DAVIS   DA – 2A  1973

Welcome to Davis N27ED, where you'll discover our refurbished plans built DAVIS DA2A aircraft for sale.  We are committed to helping you understand , the purchase of this aircraft is not only the aircraft itsself, but  a transfer of guardianship of blueprints, newsletters and written history long lost on most plansbuilt aircraft. This is EAA history.

About Davis N27ED

After seeing the original Davis fly at the Rockford E.A.A. convention in 1967, Edward Dunn,  a former B-29 PILOT, led a newsletter and organized construction materials for approximately 30 homebuilders around the world.

He finished and flew this Davis DA2A in June of 1973,  First plans built Davis.

Wing Characteristics

  • Airfoil:It specifically utilizes the Clark Y airfoil, chosen to provide high lift from a relatively small wing area.
  • Planform:The wing is of constant chord, meaning the width from the front to the back remains the same from the fuselage to the tip.
  • Construction:To simplify assembly for first-time builders, each wing is constructed from two sheets of aluminum with no trimming required. It consists of flanged metal spars and pressed metal ribs covered in aluminum skin.
  • Mounting: Unlike most aircraft with complex wing-to-fuselage fittings, the DA-2A wing spar runs directly through the middle of the fuselage box, and the two are joined by simple flat sheet stiffeners.
